postheadericon Review: Switch lets you shut down any Windows computer remotely, even using Twitter

You know what's frustrating? When something is supposed to be complicated, it is very simple to the point of impossibility. For example, remotely shut down a Windows computer: This is not rocket science. In fact, it is something that is built into Windows, and Microsoft even offers a free additional tool to make it easier. However, the more I tried, I could not get one of these tools. I spent hours browsing the forums and firewall settings tweaking, user accounts, group policies, and all I could think OFA???? And I could not turn my computer remotely. That is, until I installed the utility Switch $ 9.

Change
has a nice and simple web interface to turn off the remote computer.

Switch

was a breath of fresh air. Finally, something simple that does exactly what it is supposed to do. With switch installed, I could close my file server from any computer on my local network without installing any client software. All I had was a standard web browser, so I just point to the IP address of the file server. Switch appears as a nice website with a stop button. Click the button and the computer will switch running bye-bye. It's as simple as that.
