We have seen a lot of ridiculous stories about DMCA takedowns wrong, but is not as ridiculous as those in which the content requirement is lowered content published officially. This is often due to poor / intermediate confused, as is the case with the last example is passed around. HBO hired DtecNet / MarkMonitor to keep illegal copies of their works offline, and many points on TorrentFreak, the company sought to achieve this by sending a DMCA notice to Google takedown that demanded the removal of links to web own HBO (as well as links to legitimate sites, including sample tests in question Eastbound and Down

My real question, however, is how much HBO paid DtecNet / MarkMonitor for this "service"? Not only is it a complete parody of HBO, but it could kill value of search engine optimization that HBO could have its legitimate and authoritative content.
In addition, it is comforting that DtecNet / MarkMonitor is to prosecute persons within the new six strikes? Stories like this really add weight to the idea that they will make a complete mess of the whole affair
