Google 'should have to censor search results'
Google criticized by MPs for its' no objection to the request convinces to filter your search results
party committee of MPs and peers has urged the government to consider introducing legislation that would require Google to censor its search results to block content that the court considered in violation of privacy someone.
In a report released today, all the Lords and Commons committee said Google should proactively monitor their search results, highlighting the evidence provided by Max Mosley , the former head of Formula One, who said he had spent at least £ 500 000 in 23 countries seeking to eliminate the remains of a video secretly filmed by the News of the world via the Internet.
Google has been criticized by the committee for its "unconvincing" objection to requests to filter your search results. The search giant said that the policy could jeopardize the free flow of information online.
The committee was formed by Prime Minister last May to review the privacy and freedom of expression after the controversy over the increasing use of precautionary measures, including one signed by the player Ryan Giggs. The report, which was far behind, warns against a new law of privacy and makes recommendations for regulation "improved" release.
morelanguage, says the report is for Internet companies - Google, Facebook and Twitter -. The committee said it had presented many challenges to the rule of law in the UK
"Google and other search engines should take steps to ensure that their sites are not used as vehicles for violation of the law, and should develop and use this technology," said the committee. "We recommend that if legislation is needed to require to be made to do."
- The committee issued a certificate of good health to the injunctions of the High Court of privacy, but said they routinely apply to sites like Twitter and Facebook as well as newspapers. They urged the Attorney General to be more willing to initiate contempt proceedings against the claims of Internet users suspected of violation of online privacy mandates, after it was found that the injunction was tweeted on Giggs more than 75,000 times that eventually collapsed in May of last year.
- In a series of recommendations on the future of media regulation, the committee said that the reform of the Press Complaints Commission should have the power to fine newspapers and to determine the importance of apology printed . He urged advertisers to withdraw from the financing of major newspapers and blogs that are withdrawing from the reconstitution of regulation, and threatened to "legal control" of a body such as Ofcom, if the industry can not s 'agree on a set of credible reforms. John Whittingdale MP, Chairman of the Committee, said: "The committee spent some time debating whether additional legislation to clarify the right to privacy was necessary or desirable
is clear that the means of self-regulation in the CCP did not work. Thus, we see a strong self-regulatory system that is seen to be effective and command public confidence. "
A Google spokesman said. "This is a very important question for which there are no easy answers, especially when it comes to balance freedom of expression and the fight against illegal content
