Insert Coin: Lightpack turns your computer display into an ambient backlight (video)
Although Philips has finally made its Ambilight technology for PC screens, it was not until others have decided to start their own. Now you can add the Ambilight any computer screen without the welding operator and Arduino disputes through people Woodenshark. The team built Lightpack system Ambilight-esque to be connected to a computer running Windows, OS X or Linux and project display color in the area around the screen.
Connectsize hockey puck device on your computer, connect 10 LED modules at the rear of the screen and install the open source software and you are good to go. Once ready, you can even set up custom alerts to measure the temperature of the processor or the volume of e-mail, and even lighting control with your smartphone or tablet. The team presented an unusually specific request 261962 dollars to fund an initial production run of 5,000 units, with the forces able to hold one of the units for $ 50 instead of $ 90. Interested to see it in action? There is a video after the break, folks.
