Earlier this month, mini choppers lover robot developed at Chiba University in Japan has helped an emergency exercise that simulated an explosion at a chemical plant. Four machines and a host computer (shown after the break) used spherical markers, imaging, and a heck of a lot of math to analyze independently the site for survivors. The researchers say that the exercise was "very well" and that local police will be "to introduce this system" for true recognition. This could include monitoring of volcanic eruptions or inspection of power lines, but unfortunately it is not mentioned so far use swarms quadrocopters to sneak up on the yakuza.
