MIT duo successfully tests wireless drug-delivery microchips, more consistent than injections
despises daily injections of essential drugs? Good people, relief may be on the road. More than a decade ago, two MIT professors Robert Langer and Michael Cima, first considered developing a drug delivery microchip that can be controlled wirelessly. Last week, researchers from Cambridge, as well as scientists of microchips, Inc. - announced they have successfully used the chip above to give osteoporosis patients for your daily dose of teriparatide. "You can make the delivery of the remote, you can pulsatile drug delivery, and you can take multiple medications," said Langer. Chips used in this particular study located 20 doses each, and the results indicated that the delivery showed less variation than the injections. in theory, such chips could be used in conjunction with sensors that monitor glucose levels - creating technology that could adapt to changes in patient status. more information about the trial that awaits you on the source link below.
