postheadericon Two Reporters Arrested For Daring To Photograph/Videotape Public DC Taxi Commission Meeting

It really is amazing how so many species of authority these days can 't seem to grasp the idea that people can and will participate in public meetings and record phone. Sinan Unur makes us on the news, as two reporters in Washington DC were arrested during a public meeting the DC Taxi Commission, which was about a planned meeting for taxi medallion system (used in many other cities, but somewhat controversial because of the possibility of artificially limiting the market). Apparently, a reporter named Pete Tucker was arrested for photographing and then Reason 's Jim Epstein, the arrest and subsequent outrage pretty shot everyone in attendance. He then tried to leave and the police tried to get his camera and then arrested him also. You don 't see how he was arrested in the video, but the woman at the end that he had no right to their film (wrong, as this is a public place) has explained, is apparently told by police that Epstein' s phone would be turned to her, which begs the question why the police would be handing over a phone to someone else.
