postheadericon Could Google's Motorola Buy To Fend Off Microsoft... Actually Drive More Business To Microsoft?

It 's stated quite clearly at this point that Google bought Motorola Mobility in large part because of the patents. The number will be thrown, is that 50% of the price for the patents was. A large part of the reason for these patents was for the defense of Microsoft, who claims quite aggressively in patents over things in Android. In fact, several sources reported that thanks to the patents and licenses, Microsoft actually makes more money from Android than Windows Mobile. Talk about the perverse economics patent.

Of course the big question that many triggered if Google has this deal, whether it was actually some handset makers move away from Android, for fear of competing with their own suppliers. While the big players such as Android HTC downplayed quickly that there was a danger that they Android committed, at least some of them talk about it, are less willing to bet on Android and how it could drive her closer look at Microsoft ' s Windows Mobile operating system.

Let 's you unpack this for a second, because to show it, how ridiculous begins the general situation:
  • Microsoft, through patents, makes more money from Android phones.
  • To ward off threats patent, Google buys Motorola to get its patents.
  • This mobile phone manufacturers in competition with Google fear begin to Microsoft as a partner.
  • The bottom line: Microsoft can partner to get more listeners, but less money, because Android is a pure licensing profit center.
Thus, the Google Android buy less equipment and more Windows phones result ... but less money for Microsoft. What happened to the simple system in which companies compete only in the market and the best one wins?
