Google
was particularly good to participate in the world of Web 2.0, including, no doubt, because it is good for your business. But there is a dangerous asymmetry implicit in all of this for anyone building a business on the back links Web 2.0. If the business depends on the continuity of a great team like Google (or Amazon or Facebook) without explicit contractual relationship and the big boys can pull the plug at any time that suits them. But at least in this particular case, users can export their data, including their subscriptions with Google Takeout over the next four months. Users of other Web 2.0 services are not always so lucky and can find those who believe their data to a "free" service suddenly gone or retired.
